Light source was a glow stick, as one of these comments figured out.I attached a glowstick to a long broken rubber band so it would create motion. Background was regular street lights, but because of long exposure, it gave an interesting effect. Some comments made about distracting background- i was going for more the color play...but i still think it worked out fine. SO great to be placed in top 20 guys!

One of the most impressive light painting images on this site. Congratulations on this great effort.

Great light painting. I think a plain background might have been a tad stronger

Very nicely done, and a good idea for this challenge. I brief flashlight pulse to show the subject's face would provide a better connection to the trapped person. I think you could afford a tighter crop too, but still earns an 8.

That...is...very cool. I love the way the blue and orange play together. Im guessing that was done with a glowstick..? very cool.

VERY cool effect!! I love this. The composition is nice and the "lights" circle around the subject perfectly. The background lights set it off nicely. Gave it an 8

Very captivating. Reminds me of calligraphy.

this is one of the more interesting shots i've seen so far. I kind of like it, but I think the concept could have been done with better composition perhaps.

Those sweeping ribbons of blue sit wonderfully over the orange behind. Nice and weird. Shame about dark vertical bar at right side. 8

This is a great effect. I think the light is used here to great advantage. In an abstract challenge this is certainly a high scorer. Bumping up to 6.

how was this done in one single picture?

The intensity of the blue, couples with the "ink in the air" feeling of a caligraphy pen gives this shot such amazing texture and "feel"... Well done. 9

NICE! This is a very interesting shot! Composition could've been a lot tighter tho. Colours are rich and the effect is meet with surrealism. A better lighting on the background would've probably helped a bit and i would've loved to see a scary model in the center of this whirlwind of blue...something! Nice job! 8

I'm sorry. Even though you've put some effort to get decent background for this, and lights contrast each other well, and the formation is interesting, I can't help feeling you recycle fashionable idea once more. However, your execution is much better than I was expecting from the thumbnail, so well done.

wow, great light effect! I think that a single light source just behind the person our of view would have been better than the 5 or 6 different ones we can see here. It would create just enough of a sillhouette and wouldn't distract from the blue light

great idea....but your background could of used some work, like maybe selective Desaturation. I like this one a lot...Good luck

Nice photo.
i love the colors and shapes here.
I wish the face of the person could be seen in the light. But still a wonderful take on the challenge. 8

I like the picture, I think it would be much better if you payed more attention at the background.

Cool effect, is it some kind of wand?
