As a big fan of macro butterfly photography I marvel at your ability to capture a flying butterfly with such great quality. Super capture. |

Love this picture. Not sure about being on a bilboard though. Maybe with more green behind the butterfly so it stands out. 9. |

That's a totally amazing picture.
A closer crop would have more impact.

This is one of the best butterfly shots I've seen on this site - lots of bright colors and excellent focus/bokeh. Very nicely done. |

Yup - if that Butterfly garden has the budget for a billboard then this may well tempt me! Lovely shot and composition. Background is a little too busy. |

The butterfly may not be sufficiently separated from the background to be easily seen and interpreted at a high speed on the highway, but the image is beautiful. |

I think the subject (the butterfly) needs to be in full focus (no motion blur) to catch a passing drivers attention and make an impression. The motion blur makes the image to complicated, when a driver only sees a billboard for a second. |

Very nice! If I could suggest one thing, it would be to dodge that grey part behind the butterfly to white, and make him(or her) jump out at you. Still a very nice capture. 8 |

ok, i am voting this challenge in 2 passes. in this pass, you will get a partial comment and a score. then i will come back to comment again. if you have any problem whatsoever with this comment, pm me and let me know. otherwise, take it with a grain of salt...i'm not trying to be a know-it-all, i'm just explaining where i'm coming from in voting this challenge. and, if this comment is NOT helpful (of if you think i'm full of $#!+), don't mark it helpful.
billboards are a science unto themselves. a lot of research has gone into determining just how much information a person can digest and retain in specific time spans. they use this information to develop formulas for determining the number of words and letters to use on billboards, as well as their sizes. they also determine the size and number of visual elements to include.
the graphics/photograph on a billboard are designed to get the point across in a moment. on the road, a driver will have less time with a billboard than a voter will give your image. this is a key element in the challenge: composing a shot that will get its point across quickly and succintly. along those lines, a strong composition will probably have few details and make strong use of negative space.

this is a beautiful image. as a billboard, it would only work if the background was completely cleared--there's just too much visual information to work at 60 mph. granted, you couldn't erase the background, but you could select it into its own layer and adjust that layer until it is barely there. but, hey, this is nit-picking. it looks great. good luck! |
