My girl friend in her natural state! Lamp lighting, cropped, levels, hue, and saturation. Perfect way to pass the time!!! In hindsite I should have used ISO 400 or maybe 800, but I like the darkness anyways...

I still love it, not the least because of the several hilarious comments it provoked, including the following (the first two of which were obviously intentional):
"wonder if this one will get pulled"
"would have been better desaturated"
"the sheets appear yellow"
"not funny--don't like it--in fact I hate it"

Ben...I like the B&W better. Gives it more of a "night time" feel. I love this shot too! Better title too! I think the other title turned some people off. Steve

Thank you bobdaveant. Here is the black and white photo of the same shot. I think it is a lot more moving than the color one. The Shadows are great!

What do you think?

I was one of your '10' votes, based on creativity and boldness alone, I figured you'd get a lot of ones and my 10 might restore a bit of your deserved score. Thanks for being provacative and thinking outise of the norm.

ClickNSee,
Thank you very much for your kind comments. I was telling a friend of mine during the voting that there would probably be a nice little bell curve of conservatism to liberal. I think I was right except for the 1s that some people gave the photo which were more than I thought.

I wanted to push the envelope with this one just to see how the crowd here thought. I have a Black and white version of this photo that I'm going to upload to my gallery tonight. It is much better than this one, in my opinion but I still really like this one. I was in quite a rush when we did this shot as we only had an hour and a half to take the photo and run it through PS.

Thank you again,
Ben

This is the first time I've come back to an image, just to read the comments left for the work. Wow, they are all over the place. I think some people really need to have their eyes examined. One guy said he couldn't even tell if it was a man or a woman without the title. And some folks need to have their monitors checked before they start handing out critiques about lighting. I've looked at this on three differnt monitors and I think the lighting is fine. Softer lighting or less harsh shadows might be fine, but they would also change the mood. Some people just "don't get it". And this is clearly a very conservative crowd judging our images. When I opened the challege to see the results this morning, I expected to see this at #1. You should pat yourself on the back for a very well done image. I hope you find a place in the bedroom to hang this print. I'm sure many print shops would love to be selling it. My girlfriend loved the shot so much, she wished it had been our idea. Congrats once again on an outstanding image.

HAHAH

Well that is one way to pass some time. The highlights see a bit blown out to me and there seems to be a bit of a yellow color cast. As much as some will dislike the subject I think over all you did a good job catching the feeling of it...6

Sometimes I vote not on the quality of the photo, but am impressed more by the idea than the composition and quality of the photo. This one has it all. Great lighting, suspense, texture, beauty, tension, and anticipation. There are so many photos that are so alike in this challenge and this one is so different than all the rest. This is clearly an example of thinking outside the lines, and a little daring as well. This image really stirs the imagination. This image gets my only <10> of the challenge. Outstanding idea, and very nicely photographed. Good luck, I do hope you have a winner here!

Very bold, and very, very good as well. Hovers brilliantly just on the "respectable" margin of erotic art, and is all the more erotic for that finely judged positioning. Pity you had to bludgeon us with the self-evident title, but I guess you have to cater for the imaginatively disadvantaged among us. Conceptually outstanding and masterfully executed. 9
Second look: I can't give it 9; it has no flaws at all .... so it's got to be a 10

Risque or what? I like most things about this image but it seems over processed to me, or is it just my terminal. Good luck

I'm not quite sure what to say here, other than the lighting looks a little harsh in places.

I was wondering if this subject would make it into the competition. I like the image and give it an 8. I will be interested to see how you do with this crowd.

hehe...that's good. I think your white balance is a bit off though as the sheets appear yellow...and there are a few blown areas in there as well.

WOW! Lotsa comments from the conservatives on this one huh? Its a eye catcher, but technically, its lacking a little. Congrats on the pot stirring! Hehe! 7

A little graphic, but yet doesn't show enough to even be certain this is a woman (without the title). A little too contrasty also.

When this challenge was announced, the first thought that went through my head was rubbing one out to pass time, but that doesn't mean you should actually take a picture of it. I won't rate it low, because at least you pushed the limit a bit with this one. I think the lighting could have been better though.

The harsh lighting and noise on the back wall lost the points in my voting. The stark shadows created from the light source (especially from the pillow across the back wall) strike me as being unnatural but attempting to simulate natural window lighting.

Wow, very provacative image...Wonder how it'll score. Its a bit overexposed on the sheets. I think this would have been better with two adjustments.....

1- Possible B&W.

2- Single source lighting, and cut way back....make it moody....emotional. I wonder if I can guess who this is...... :)

Nicely done and a tasteful, and still sensual, way of depicting it. Unfortunately, I expect you will get unfairly slammed for this shot due to content, many may find it too confronting. Best of luck with it, hope you do really well :)
