Yeps, it was invented in 1974 which makes it something out of the seventies, but yes it wasn´t very popular until 1980.
The object in the top left corner is my finger pressing the camera button and yes I agree it is distracting and I also agree about the cylinder I should have skipped it.

I took about 40 photos of various setups and was as always in the last minutes and this was I think the best picture og the batch

No.. came out much earlier than that. People were playing with this thing in 1977.

But this was not an "Icon" until it was introduced to toy shows in the 80's.

The background in the upper left is distracting, but otherwise very nice. And well matched to the theme.

All the items, except the cubes are distracting. Regardless, I rated this high, because it isn't static - my eye goes from cube to cube. You did a great job of creating a variety on the color patterns and positions.

Striking compostion and colors. The out of focus object in the upper left is distracting and seems incongruent to an otherwise well crafted photo.

I thought of using the Rubik's cube too. Wasn't sure people were going to agree with it being the 70's though as it was invented in the 70's but wasn't marketted until late 1979 early 1980.

Love the picture though.

I'm not sure what the reflection directly above the cube on the left is. It's rather distracting. Also the silver cylinder is distracting. great idea for a composition, I would try and do it again, because once you get everything lined up correctly, this would be an awesome shot. This time I give it a 4
