This is an exceptionally nice image, immaculately processed and rendered. There's very little I can add to the comments already received. I have two nits, both minor:

1. The border may be overpowering it a little, but I can see why youw anted "wide black". I'd like to see it with 10-15% less border. I like the way your border is a tad wider on the bottom, nice touch.

2. The image might be stronger, especially in terms of the challenge, had you very carefully selected the windmills and goosed their brightness up a little.

I'd further comment that the overlap of tree and building on the right, and the way the mass of tree is completely filling the sky upper leftish, may not be optimum here. But I cans ee you may have had no choice in the matter. I'd be curious to see a sligtly wider version of the image, to see what's over there and how it might be integrated. The trunk of the tree, perhaps?

Overall, a simply excellent picture.

Robt.

David, an outstanding picture and one that I would have loved to see ribbon. Can you post more info about how you achieved such a dramatic effect: tones in the sky, contrast, overall impact?? It's quite striking and now added to my favs!

Beautiful. I think the border is a little too thick. Nothing wrong with the picture though

I like this picture very much, and I hope it does well in the challenge. I hope people do not vote it down because they don't see easily the "old and new" part.

Wild lighting situation! I like the picture, but I don't get the "old and new" of it.

My Favorite in this contest. Fantastic shot. It actually took me a second to see the windmills and then the picture was perfect! Well Done.

Really beautiful post-processing. I'd love to know how you did this. What you've done with the light is amazing. The only tiny thing negative I can say is that the frame is too thick for me. This is a good shot to show off with a very thin frame or none at all. The windmills in the background complete this shot.

Brightness of the stone was a shock, love the composition though...

I really really like this photograph.. I love to look at photos of mystery! This image looks mysterious and I really like how the dark blacks and grays portray that. I like the detail in the trees and building and how you can see objects all the way in the back of the background. I also like how the sky is really dark at the top but it gets slightly darker at the bottom, this helps with the erie feel the image gives off. This is really a interesting shot. Nice work!!

This is a really nice picture, but I'm not sure what the old and new are.

I like the subtlety of the windmills in the picture. It may just be my monitor, but the tree takes something away from the picture (in my opinion) because it obscures the building too much. The darkness gives this great atmosphere.

The is a very mysterious picture.. the setting is very rural but pretty at the same time. I like the way the color gives it a very gloomy look. In the back of the picture you see broken twigs but i think they are telephone poles that are very old which is neat because it shows how old the setting is!

I look at this shot and each time I like it more. At first it was just really good and then when I noticed the wind farm in the background, the full impact hit.The shift from light to dark and the contrast in the subjects makes this a winner in my books. I'm saying you've got yourself a ribbon.

Love the contrasty look to this one, very Ansell-ish. Composition is top-notch.

I can see this doing very well.
