Sydney Harbour Bridge offers endless opportunities for creative photography. This photo was taken about half an hour after sunset on a cloudy evening. The clouds created a soft textured backdrop and provided a great mood. Photo was taken with the aid of a tripod and some creative motion while the photo was being taken.

Greetings from the Critique Club.

Congratulations on a very good photo. This was certainly one of the most creative shots for the challenge. There isn't much I can say to add to this photo. I really like the purplish hue in the photo it does give it a nice soft look. Sorry that I can't add more but the photo is very nice and I can't see any other way doing it. Looking forward to seeing your stuff in future challenges.

Thanks for all the great comments! I thought I'd try out an unusual photo for my first submission. Have learnt a lot about the voting patterns on dpchallenge.com now!

The photo was composed as-is (no cropping). I had the camera tilted slightly to the left in order to fit in the closest section of the bridge - the right hand side. Location is from Milsons Point - north side of the harbour, in Sydney Australia. I set the exposure for 15 seconds, framed the "top" bridge which you see. Set the photo off, then counted the seconds, and moved the camera roughly half way through the shot. My camera does not display the image as I'm taking the shot, so I was guessing where it was pointed after I moved it mid-photo. The result was quite unique. Something I'll try next time is having some black cardboard to put in front of the lense as I'm moving it to remove the light streaks, just to see how it would have come out. Post photo edit consisted of a change in hue/saturation to give the blue/purple colour, enhancing the mood.

Quite an interesting shot! I must admit that I've looked at it several times, and I didn't realize until now that it's apparently a double exposure (more specifically, a long exposure that duplicates the arch by moving the camera midway through). A clever technique, very well executed -- congrats!

Whoa! I guess it must be a 'legal' shot, but I cannot make out how it works at all! The winner so far for me though

Very nice image. The night scene and the lighting create a great effect on the image. Was this photo taken a little bit diagonally?? It sort of becomes distracting.

Excellent exposure. Must have taken a lot of shots to get this good!! One thing that would make it better I think.... rotate it so the verticle things are verticle (not titled to the right).

Congrats on this creative shot! It's refreshing to see a different and unique picture among all the "usual" bridges. Personally I like the result of your work very much (voted 10). IMO the color and composition are well chosen, the technical execution is well done too. I'm not completely sure, how you did it. My first thought was double exposure. But where the light stripes out of the lamps are coming from? Now I think, you changed the camera position on the tripod. But then the stripes should be vertical. Did you rotated it additionally? However (I come back in a week) a highly interesting photo. Thanks for sharing and giving me food for thought!!! Good luck for the challenge!

Open exposure and drag? Not sure if I like this one - the light streams are nice, but the double bridge is confusing.

Perhaps the crop is a bit too close as I don`t know what I am looking at. The purple tint does not help define the subject for me either. There is a nice sharp focus here and I like the structure lines though. -Clicker-
