If she's getting ready to give her daughter away then why does she look so grumpy??? I find there is to much blurr in this photo. Perhaps its because of how wide it is. Good luck and all the best in 2005.

what an image you have captured here! i just hope it doesn't get overlooked in this huge challenge, and that it gets the attention it deserves. i'll join you for a chuckle if you get more than 5 comments telling you the foreground is too blurry (because i know it was intended)! great work! good luck with this and the challenges yet to come!

Nice candid. Some of the abstractness takes a bit away from the emotional content, I feel, but still a nice photo. 7

Well expressed. She seems like she is standing on guard. :)
The blownout out of focus foreground is just a bit too extreme, it distracts.

Seeing the daughter a tad more in focus would make this more impactful for me. The dark object across the bottom also distracts my eye quite a bit.

Terrific catch... I hope this wasn't set up - then I can label you the master of the candid. On the other hand if it was set up I can commend you on your wild imagination and the tremendous perspective you've chosen. 10. (by the way - the high key effect works well here).

Could be very powerful. Seems a bit overexposed... and the railing is distracting.
