Image size and lack of good detail hurt this image in my opinion. A little less branch in the foreground, and dropping the brightness & increasing the contrast would help the richness. ((5))

Nice panorama showing the rapid variations in terrain ... small DPC display size may hurt your score a bit : (

Too small to make out the detail.

Too small of a pic! Not easy to view.

not a bad shot - I'd try making it larger though, and the foliage in the foreground is a little distracting.

ok, please bear with me. this is a very difficult challenge to vote, not just because of it's size, but also the fact that it represents what the submitters consider their best. it's really hard to critique someone in a challenge like this, but, then again, that's what it's here for. that being said, i'm sure you've comments about image size. please refer to the tutorials about sizing images for maximum impact. next, take lots and lots and lots of pictures. take full advantage of having a digital camera; once it's paid for, everything else is basically free. you'll only learn through practicing. i have no doubt that you are getting hammered in the voting, but please, do not take it personally, do not take it to heart, and DO NOT QUIT!!!

if you really want to get better, this is the right place to be. the resources here are fantastic, and you can work at your own pace. although most people try to be polite, you do need to be able to shake off the less than tactful comments you'll get from time to time.

if you really want to do this, don't try to do it all at one time. learn how to use the camera you have, first. then, learn how to use whatever photo-processing software came with your camera. then, get a couple good books on composition. then, and only then, get ready to start spending money on upgrading equipment.

please don't be discouraged by where this finishes. just look at it that this year can go nowhere but up!

I'm not sure what to say about this one.

Firstly, you could take advantage of the full 640 pixel width allowed.

The trees in the foreground don't seem to add to the shot.

The image doesn't seem to be clearly focused (perhaps the autofocus latched onto the trees, rather than the scene).

It would be more interesting to contain more of the scenery in the shot - like the top of the hill or whatever it is.

Why not make use of the entire 640 pixels allowed, especially for what should be a majestic landscape shot? This loses all impact for being so small and not sharp.

Too small to see the full effect.

Hey! I've been there. :^O Hope you enjoyed your vacation - or, you're a lucky one to live there! If you were going for the panoramic effect my the slim height, you had room to leave some width which may have had a little bigger impact. As it is, it seems like a small photo. Probably going to get marked down for that a bit. 6 from me.

Please use the full 640 pixels given so we can see the details of the image... People will deduct points if the image is too small.

Great shot! The only things is I wish the brush up close was not in the shot.

Wapio Valley! Would of loved to have seen more of it in your photo. In all honesty, this photo doesn't match the coloring of this beautiful place and the size is somewhat small.
01/16/2005 08:50:22 AM
Wish it was a little bigger.

Nice shoreline, but in the future please submit larger pictures. This one is way to small to make out any detail.
