Thanks Ecce, I've already dodged the baby's eye quite a bit, their eyes seem to be light sinks for some reason!
This remains my favourite Antarctica photo.
We'll see if I get any better ones on our upcoming return trip!

Kavita, you lucky lady to have been amongst these wonderful birds! Fantastic capture, wonderful composition and whilst a 6.5 isn't to be sniffed at I think you were robbed!

The only thing I can think of to improve this shot would be if baby P's eye was a little brighter? I love it!

Picture perfect and a wonderful nature shot.....

I do wish you were a registed member, as I have tried to comment on some of your other images, especially the cub in a tree as I love that one.....

This is a lovely shot! Fantastic timing but also seems technicaly sound. I would love to see something like this myself. I really can't find fault with it at all. There must be some amazing photographers out there to be able to justify giving this a 2!

Presently eating hat :) - Though overall the ratings in this image were surprisingly low - I don't understand why the winner of the best of 2004 challenge is a full point lower than the masters free study.

Great work all the same!

I'm biased on this one. Penguins kick ass! I either gave this a 10 for penguin-ness or a 1 because I'm jealous ; )

Seriously, I love this. Great composition, and a beautiful moment to capture. Can't fault it.

What a nice and tender image! It feels a bit soft though, I want to really see all the hairs on the chick.. still worth an 8.

Great capture. Too much border stuff happening here for my taste.

how sweet is this! i really hope this doesn't get lost in the shuffle, and that it gets the attention it deserves. what an incredible capture. and now, as i have nothing further to add, i'm just going to sit back and enjoy it for a moment, if you don't mind. good luck in this and the challenges yet to come!

This is an awesome picture!! What perfect timing. This is a perfect Bokeh shot too because the blurred background really enhances the picture. IMO it is a perfect 10. Good luck!

What an exquisite and lovely moment you've captured. This is definitely one of those "defining moment" photos. I can see this on a motivational poster, calendar, or print adverts for a zoo or wildlife refuge. Focus is spot-on and color is wonderful. I don't even mind the border (I am betting the border patrol has commented about that). Well seen and well captured. 9

Fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. I would say this is a lucky shot - lucky to be there, lucky to see this. But I'm a firm believer that you make your own luck (plus this shot is technically perfect). Perhaps my favourite thing about this image is the way a fully grown penguin serves as the backdrop for the parental penguin, while the brown babies provide the background for the baby. That division is highly successful in my book. A well deserved 10. I'll eat my hat if this doesn't end up in the 7s somewhere!.
