Toe clippers....well I couldn't think of much else and outside has been sub zero and the camera is not going out in it.
Studio lighting. Post: Auto Levels, Auto Contrast, Layer adjustment for Hue Sat to Black and white (shot in color on a purple background). Cloned a few hot spots, dust particles and a small black blotch by the blade out.

Not sure if this image is actually that dark or if its my wonderful monitor so I won't grade down on it. I do like the simplicity of it and the fact that you didn't shoot it on a white background. Good Job
Dramatic as hell. Might work better if the subject were up and left 10% each, so the key diagonal line fell parallele to but slightly above the corner-to-corner diagonal. I wish the lighting gave me a hair of separation from shadowed area of object to pure black background. Just a hair, not much...
