 In an interview with the writer Yiyun Li, I was struck by her saying that doctors had warned her about the high risk of suicide for her son. I do not think I had fully realized before how deep depression can run in people, even beginning in childhood.

But Beata fought this for such a long time, did so much, and helped many people along the way.
