Post-challenge:

I binge-watch enough Oscar speeches and told myself that whenever I win an elusive ribbon, I will craft a little thank-you speech. So why not? πŸ˜…

Thank you for this win. It surely is a delight to win a ribbon, but more than that, I am just happy that some of my borderline weird ideas get recognized.

I remember always taking delight in unconventional novels and indie films, especially the ones that touch on the ugly and uncomfortable. I appreciate them because, in reality, in our own little spaces, the uncomfortable is also part of life. It is part of our same whole, just like how we all try to make the most of the cards we are dealt with.

For β€œEye Opener,” I was thinking about how opening our eyes is not always a gentle process. Sometimes truth does not arrive softly. Sometimes awareness feels sharp, uncomfortable, even intrusive. But maybe that is the point. Some things need to disturb us a little before we truly see them.

β€œArt should comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable,” as the line goes. That has always stayed with me.

To everyone who took the time to vote, comment, or simply look at the image, thank you so much. I truly appreciate it, and the msgs/comments from photographers whose work I admire and respect made this even more special.

Love and blessings to everyone 🫢🏻

And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire. Matthew 18:9

Impressively disturbing. Pee Wee Herman meets Clockwork Orange.

Clever conceptually. I cringe at body horror, but I gotta respect the crisp, pristine presentation. A challenge favorite for me.

Amazing detail in the eyelids, so sharp in itself. Great image overall.
