My favorite kind of patriotism. The kind that artfully--and tastefully--reminds people that interrogating power structures is part of what it means to exercise civic duty. This is a masterful image without or without the political evocation, though. Congrats!
I like the title. A headwind makes it harder to progress. The motion of the photo is even more destructive, like an earthquake. It feels like the myth of patriotism is revealing itself to be nothing but a ghost. The flags are burning, have burned, are smoke now. The citizens are turning into the stripes, and the stars are scattered on the grass.
Interesting. The title suggests there are external or internal forces that keep us from progressing. In this moment, that is almost a best scenario.
Love the photo, processing and, admittedly, the metaphorical obstacles.
