Time for a big swing -- and possibly the Brown ribbon.

I struggled trying to find something I actually enjoyed looking at with this challenge. Intentional blurring of a subject is definitely a weak spot in my toolkit, it seems. And whether this final image will be "pleasing to the eye" for others remains to be seen. I personally think it's pretty cool to look at, but it's gritty and noir, not soft and creamy--which is the direction I anticipate most will go with this challenge. Here I wanted the blur and grainy B/W treatment to suggest something visceral and vertigo-inducing.

The subject is a small wire conductor figurine that was gifted to me back in my college days--when I was directing ensembles myself on the regular. With the right lighting and my camera set to manual focus in its gritty street photography mode, I eventually happened upon this abstract up-close perspective--which to my imagination represents the looming terror of having an important cue and sitting under an "important" but unfamiliar conductor for a musical performance. It's that moment just before the big downbeat...when your heart is racing and you're about to find out whether all your practicing has paid off or if you're about to make a giant fool of yourself because you missed your cue.

There are at least a few people here who know exactly what I'm talking about. But whether this image captures that or not...well, let's just see how it goes.

On repeated view I can feel this happening. Great title.
