 This was a bucket list shot for me. I have lived in Maine for 31 years and this was my first season seeing these beautiful shore birds.

Shot with my 800 and my camera in crop mode. Layed in the sand to get this.
Per Google:
Piping plovers are listed as
endangered under the Maine Endangered Species Act and as threatened under the federal Endangered Species Act. Despite a record high of 174 nesting pairs in 2025, they remain protected in Maine due to habitat loss from development and human/pet disturbance on beaches.

What an incredible find!! We have some nesting down up at Chincoteague, but I've only seen them nesting once, and didn't see the babies. Huge congrats on the find, and even bigger congrats on a wonderful capture!
