 This is Henry at the age my youngest daughter is now, enjoying his much-anticipated first train ride at a park in San Antonio, Texas during his birthday party. Henry is the one I photographed earlier this year for this photo:



My how they grow and change. I've always loved the sense of joy and wonder on Henry's face in this photo. And it's interesting that literally just this year he's rediscovered his passion for all things trains. One of his favorite Christmas gifts this past year was a working LEGO model train, which he had assembled and working in my parents' living room in record time.

The girl to his right in this photo is one of his cousins, who is deaf. (That's part of her cochlear implant you can see on her head, for anyone unfamiliar with such a device.) And the two individuals smiling in the seat behind them are their paternal grandparents--my father-in-law and his wife, at whose house we spent Christmas Eve this past year.

Yeah - this is what I love about your pictures. The emphasis on the eyes and the composition makes this a very strong photo.

Coming back to comment after already voting, this one is super cute. A little apprehension in his eyes maybe, I’m not sure. I really love that cap. Good choice using sepia tones.
