A scene from a rural Lutheran cemetery not far from my home. I positioned a low-intensity red light inside of the tombstone, then shot looking upward from a desktop tripod on the ground against a clear night sky with a long exposure. I wasn't sure what I'd get, but I was rather pleased with the result for this challenge.
The title is in German as a nod to the germanic heritage of these older headstones. This is a Czech-German cemetery, and the word "Nachtstuck" is roughly equivalent to the term "nocturne."
I also realize, of course, that I'm taking a big risk submitting this one, since it really does register differently depending on the lighting conditions and device display settings that frame how it is viewed. People who look at this on glossy phone screens in bright light will see something that looks like an unfocused dark mess. But those who view it on a desktop screen will see more detail. I'm gambling on the fact that most voters here view on desktop before voting. I've brightened it as far as I dare. I guess we'll see how that goes for me... |
