Trying for something different to the cute shots I'm expecting all over this challenge (please prove me wrong!). This is an attempt to recreate the English "Council Estate" look where the dogs appear more human than the kids with their faces in the shadows. More attitude than affection, but believe me the affection is there ... just not in an obvious, cutesy way.

I don't like the light on my nose, and I'm not happy with the sharpening I had to use for the basic rules. Otherwise I'm chuffed with the set of shots I ended up with.

"You go to sleep round here and have nightmares
Wake up and find the worse reality is right there
The difference is in my dreams I'm always runnin' scared
But in reality I'm rolled I'm comin' prepared
So now who's gonna wanna run up and become a gunner
Everybody's gonna wanna get us but they run along us
I'm still out to get the same cats from last summer
But man can't see them again, it's like they've done a runner
I'm still in the same manor on the same number
And everybody knows where I'm at and what I'm under
I'm in the same slums raisin' the funds
In the city where the youth man are blazin' the guns
Just look how this United Kingdom has come
Within the council estates where man'll fight over crumbs
You've got young single parent mums, havin' the hardest time
Tryin' to survive for their daughters and their sons
Be comin' out their youths, cos' their youths are left out there
Raised on the ways of these streets without care
Now we're havin' our fair share of gun warfare
And it's all gone nuts and that's just 'cos it's poor here
People want more here, we're all on the floor here
It is raw here, can't even sleep and ignore here
'Cos life's kinda militant, stuck in the grime
Nothing's equivalent, to this Council Estate of Mind"

Very nice, all I would have done different is darkin the human eyes just to the poin you can't see them,

Well thought out and well executed. A real piece of art! This should have ribboned!

Congratulations on your 17th finish with this overtly expressive image.

moody lighting, like the dog as the central focal point with the person's face visible but less prominent -- one of my ribbon picks this challenge

Very well executed with attention on the pet with good focis and very good lighting. 7

I really love the pose but it seems so out of focus on my pc

Blue ribbon for you here. I love the atmosphere you have captured here, maybe a slightly more downward turn of the lips on the guy would make it more 'edgy' or 'manacing'. Superb all the same.

Interesting

I really like this one. The pose and lighting very moody. Slight desat works well here but I think this would have done well in b/w as well. Has Rock and Roll all over it but with more class. One of my picks.

great contrasts

Very cool effect created by the contrast in direction of stare of the dog and person, especially since the guy's eyes are almost imperceptible and are looking right at the viewer. A bit startling, almost threatening, and very intense.

This pit bull's face is much too kind for the tough collar. The dog looks very playful. The image seems a bit dark overall. Maybe less shadow so we can see the eyes better.

Good Lighting, well composition I give a ten

I love it, great klighting, very original and one of few good shots in this contest. A ribboner methinks.

Wow! Could have been cropped a little tighter off the left hand side and bottom but overall Wow! Nicely done. The low saturation really suits it and showing the dog's eyes but not the person's really makes the focus of the image the dog.

Excellent. Got to be top 3

I'd like to see a tad morelight on the owner's eys. Seems oversharpened. dog's expression is great.
