This was taken at the Sherburne Wildlife Refuge in MN, while visiting my Mother-in-Law. I took photos the evening before, and I was planning on going out for sunrise the next morning. But at sunset, I realized that there wasn't really a good way of seeing the sunrise. So I told Jeff we'd just skip waking up early. (we were both glad!!)

At 5:30 the next morning, I woke up, fully intending to roll over and go back to sleep. And there was fog!! I love fog!!!

So off I went.

The blues were heightened in the photo, because fog photos end up very grey and boring when I take them. And I feel terrible, because I cloned out a baby swan. But he was large and gangly, and not in a good position. (sorry baby!)

All the birds in the trees are cormorants. They were there the evening before. These were the photos I was considering if I used the sunset shot. Along with some attempts at prairie.

Dreamy. It's really hard to believe you didn't deliberately assemble this creation - the setting with the trees and all the birds perched in them in the background, the swan pair pose, the soft tones and misty look (which could be masterful editing but is perfect for the mood) . . . Wow. One of my 10's. Voted earlier.

It took me a moment to spot the birds in the trees. Wow. It's like the set of a play. The waterscape is real minimalistic but the picture as a whole works.
