 An outtake from the recent macro challenge, but one I was feeling in a moodier, more cinematic spirit. Something about this particular scene made me want to draw more attention to the flower than to the bee or the forest context. So I decided to see if I could abstract the soft yellow and sunlit luminosity of the blossom by giving the rest of the frame a more painterly, semi-noir treatment.

I wasn't sure I would enjoy the end result as much as I do. But now that I see it this way, it's become something of a mood piece that makes me ponder the intrusion of soft, beautiful things in hardened, occasionally forbidding environments.
