Local camera club judges frequently get stuck in the idea that our job is to photocopy the world. In the case of food, make images look "good enough to eat." I made this to illustrate that an image can be about something more abstract. A photograph of prints placed into everyday objects is just convoluted enough to spark the conversation.

Made a picture of an egg against a pool of light on a dark background, processed to remove the support, and printed with white margins. Processed again into a close-up version and printed in a small size. Broke open the egg, fried it, made a picture of it in the pan, and printed the picture. I ate the egg but not the picture. Assembled the prints as shown above. Made three images of the scene at different focus levels and stacked them, then processed the stacked result.

One egg was involved in this project - there are no eggs in the submitted image (only pictures of the egg). The irony is better with a printed version of this image. Sometimes art takes more time than expected.

I think this is brilliant (I was your 9) and I'm surprised it did't ribbon - or at least end up on the front page.
Idea, execution and title are great. If you want to nitpick, then because the light could be softer
