Like Jonathan in the winning photo, I had my daughter as a model.
Franziska will soon be 27 and I can hardly believe how quickly the time has passed. I've been photographing her for dpc challenges every now and then since 2011, when she was just 13.
Since then, she has grown into a wonderful young woman not just physically, but especially in her character. And again like Jonathan, I can only emphasize that she is just as wonderful inside as she is outside. I'm not just saying that out of maternal pride everyone who meets her immediately takes her to their hearts because of her warm and friendly personality.
I wonder if you dpc voters recognize her by now?
In any case, we had some wonderful moments together again while creating this entry. First we did her makeup together, then we tried out different shots, including some with a hat but this one, with its similarity to "Breakfast at Tiffany's," was the one we both liked best.
Because I only have colorful bed linens, I used a tablecloth as a base, but I don't think anyone noticed.
The biggest problem I had was the reflection in the sunglassesI could see myself in them. But with the bold use of blur, I was able to solve it.
I didn't notice that there was anything odd about the nose, but now I see that it looks really long... This is definitely a result of the perspective since I haven't changed anything about it.

Congratulations, Barbara! I didn't recognize your daughter but of course I immediately recognized the reference to the "Breakfast at Tiffany's". Great job recreating the vibe! Like I wrote to Jonathan, I envy you guys that you have easy access to your daughters as your models, mine is long gone from the house and lives across the continent. |

It's funny -- I instantly registered the delightful Audrey Hepburn inspiration for this, but it took me a while to catch the Breakfast at Tiffany's reference. :-P
A beautiful portrait all around. Honestly, I don't see any issue with the nose, either. I love the personality radiating from the expression. It's clear your daughter has learned to trust your instincts behind the camera--and I have much to learn from that. :-)
Congrats on a well-deserved win! |

Lovely eyes. Something about the positioning of her nose seems odd (it's the angle of the image capture I'd imagine). |
