I was quite stumped as to what to enter for this challenge. So the evening before the challenge started I had a photoshoot at the beach with this lovely family and on looking at the photos, figured it would fit. I’m kind of shocked it did so well. I wasn’t really expecting much. I mean I liked the photo but I didn’t quite like how the father’s face was not completely in focus, nobody commented on that which was surprising. I did think however that people would comment on the space I left up top, but I cropped it and it just didn’t look right so I left it because the clouds were pretty awesome that day.

Thank you so much for all the lovely comments, so many people commenting these days. It’s wonderful.

Congratulations - you nailed this! The slight texture of the clouds behind them rolling in is the cherry on top of a really wonderful moment.

Congrats on another blue! This was one of my top picks for this challenge, with or without alternative cropping. Makes me think of some of my favorite lifestyle photos that they use to sell frames in the store. :-D

Sorry I didn’t have a chance to comment during the challenge but I did vote. This was my top pick without a doubt. What a great family shot to look at for years and years!

One of my top picks. Really embraces the challenge topic as the Dad's visual weight and equaled by his two sons. The height differences being somewhat offest by the hill slope just reinforces the many relationships (visual/biological/clothing) in the image. Well done. Print two copies of this one as the boys will treasure them in the future. I would crop off the top 20-30% to give the people more impact.

A darling interpretation of this theme. Love the generational balance, on top of the visually balanced composition. Not sure the negative space above their heads is doing much to enhance the frame, though. A tighter crop across the top might draw me in just a smidgen more effectively.
