I'm sure the lens flare will bring me down, but I liked the shot so I submitted it anyway.

Greetings from the Critique Club };-)

Initial thoughts
Interesting composition, meets the challenge, lens flare hurts it.

Composition/ Content

Great colors and the tree is awesome. I like the sunset as well but the lens flare in the middle is a dead give-away. Just like you knew it would...but what is most important is that you liked and appreciated the shot.

Background
I like the way the rays disappear into the growing gloom at the top of the shot.

Camera Work - Technical
Focus seems pretty good and contrast is excellent for the difference in light and shadow you have here. If you could have somehow avoided the flair you would have a killer shot.

Digital Processing - Technical
Seems pretty good, you don't have much grain even with the low light. Sharpness and contrast are good.

Fits The Challenge
Fits the challenge well, I like that you left room for text in the upper left.

My Opinion On The Photo
I don't want to mention it again! I think that it meets the challenge well but could have been improved a little to finish even higher than it did. Good job, and keep up the good work.

I would be happy to talk further about this shot if you would like to contact me.

I like the strong light and lens flare in this. The tree silhouettes are nice. I think it's a bit too stark for a stock photo though.

As unusual as the burst of light is I feel it dosn't help the picture. The light bouncing around in the lens also degrades your well composed exposed sunset. Of course this is all just my opinion and you may have an entirely different point of view. 6

Colours, composition and colour in your image is fantastic. The tree is like a beautiful silhouette. Just one tiny pick is that althought the light is giving off a brilliant radiance and colour, it's a little harsh on the eyes. Overall a great picture.

What IS that shooting out to the sky, a rocket? I like the tree and colors but not the streak of light.

About the only thing I don't like about your picture is the lens flare in the middle. Other than that, I think you've captured a beautiful scene.

Looks like sunflare hell right dead center of the picture. Nice tree silhouettes though
