Still laughing about the "brain stew" comment! well, I gather from the comments that most people didn't like the goo in the middle, myself included. Otherwise this is an excellent shot. Lovely lighting and focus is spot on! The contrast between the yellow and black is strong and has impact. Without the slime, perhaps even scraping it off, or chosing a composition to exclude most of it.. I like the corner composition, so I would chose for getting rid of the goo but keeping the same composition. Everything else about the shot is perfect, so perhaps a reshoot would provide a very sellable stock picture. Good Luck in the next challenge

I can tell it's corn, but it does not look like anything I would want to eat.

I don't find this photo very appealing. My eyes are drawn to the core of the cob which looks kind of soggy and slimy! The composition is nice though.

Interesting photo. I had to look at the page again...I almost did a In-depth critique on this for the Yellow challenge!! Good macro photo. I think the light is good, the focus is good and the color is great. I'm not wild about the way the cob looks though. Maybe if that was better lit, it would be better, but as it is, it looks pretty unsightly. I think you should've done more of the water droplets on the kernals. There is a small one on top and I think it looks pretty good.

This is a really fascinating shot! The center of the corn doesn't look too tasty, I might have stuck with just the kernals, but it is a very cool shot with excellent lighting still!

OK, how did you get THIS close, and get THAT good of DOF?? I HAVE to know! Very nice shot, the color is great, and I like the composition.

This is an amazing macro shot. Everything fits here, the composition the lighting, the title and it meets the challenge fully. Congratulations!

LOL, there's a missing piece of corn! Plus the cob (lower left) isn't appealing to look at. Lighting is nice however.

I would suggest that you might have been better off to shoot more of the corn.
The center is not appealing. Nice clarity around the edges.

Great idea for a stock shot. However, i think the barren area of most of the bottom left is detracting from the value of the image. 5 Jak

The kernels work really well - nice shading and detail. The cob part is a big distraction to me. Top half very good, bottom half ...

It's a good idea but it's not very appealing to me. I think it's the mush center and the popped out kernel that I don't like. I think the lighting is very good and it is a very nice macro.

The wet look th the cob center is kind of gross.Turning the ear so the center wasn't as prominent and showed more kernels may have worked better.

the corner things look gorgeous, but the centre looks like brain stew. To be honest, I would never consider putting this on print because of that. Of course, just my subjective opinion. (5)

Nice macro, would've been very good in the Yellow challenge. I can picture this hanging on the wall in a restaurant. I think the water droplet on the left side second kernel from the left detracts, only because it breaks the (effective) curve.
