 I wasn't taking bird pictures. We were at the beach and I was taking pictures of my grandchildren. Just happened to have my 400 mm lens on my older camera which I had brought. I looked up and saw this osprey coming towards us and I started shooting. Didn't realize he had a fish until he got closer. There wasn't a challenge to enter it in at the time so I knew I would save it for my "Best of 2024".

I thought this could be the winner! Amazing shot. Great backstory, and you had to wait 10 months to enter it.

I can't imagine the joy of photographing an amazing creature like this ..
and totally unplanned which makes it even better ..
like a little miracle ..
many congratulations on top 5 which .. in my reality ... would definitely have beaten my fly ..
