The “spotlight” in this shot is a wooden post surrounded by foliage in the background that a spot of the morning sun shined upon for just a few minutes. I had been watching a hummingbird land on a support wire in my vegetable garden for a few days and was able to line up the point where the hummingbird landed with the post. I took several practice shots to get the camera settings where I liked them and waited for the hummingbird to land in just the right spot. He cooperated!

This image stunned me, the lighting is superb but the capture of these birds with such clarity and stillness is amazing.
