I cropped, desaturated, adjusted the brightness and contrast, shadow and highlight, hue and staturation to create a smokey, sultry summer day look even though it was December and freezing in our bedroom when I shot this.

I think a slower shutter speed may have picked up a little more light, and shown the movement of the curtains better.

Works well in monochrome. I love the smooth gradation of tones.

I very much like the dreamy quality of this image.

this is beautiful; a fine example of effective cropping-in to objects, truncation. Haunting image, to my eye. Love the tiny peek of windowsill...

This reminds me of my stays as a kid at my Amish relatives home. Very simple decore. Very simple lifestyle. Wanna keep cool? Open the window. Smell the breeze? Smell the kerosene lamp? I can! Very nice shot!
Too bad people are leaving negative comments about the noise and the soft focus. Both effects add to this shot a feeling of simpler things and work very well here. Both effects are looked down upon by the DPC community which is a terrible shame!

I love the atmosphere generated by this image. Its got a Gothic or Victorian era type feel. Off the top of my head it brings up memories of stories like "Wuthering Heights" or "Jane Eyre." The composition, noise and slight blur all add to the atmosphere of the image. Also the conversion to black and white has been beautifully done. Good Luck with the challenge.

Now this is art through a photographer's eye. This stirs you and makes you feel the breeze and wonder what has taken place in this room through the years. The post-processing is sheer perfection for my personal tastes. This is the kind of photography I wish I could see so much more often on DPC. Thanks for a great shot.

The softness of the image and the B&W make this very creepy. I'm expecting blood tp appear somewhere in the scene very soon. I'm not sure if you were going for soft and fuzzy or something from the Shining. Nice.
