A candle taken in the kitchen with the unit light on above. I got someone to blow it out until there was enough smoke in the frame. I cropped a little and a few contrast and light adj in photoshop.

For my money the best of the candle shots...good idea not showing the flame. Nice detail and color on the candle very good detail on the smoke. Well done!

This has real drama.

I like it. Next time it could be great to mask some part of your lateral light to get more effects on the smoke.

Great concept and dramatic colour. Focus could be a bit sharper though.

Interesting. I like the capture of the smoke and the lighting, except that the white balance looks off. The smoke has a yellowish tint to it instead of white. Perhaps setting the camera to a tungsten white balance (if that is what was used to light this shot) would yield truer colors.

You know, this is soooo close to just being really awesome. The thing that is lacking is the focus. Either using a tripod or better lighting or faster shutter speed would have just push this up. The idea is great, it is easy to relate to, and the color is good. Well done. 8.

Nice picture. I especially like the smoke trailing down the left of the candle. I wonder how many times you lit it and blew it out before you got a shot you liked . . . :)

would be better if it followed the 1/3 rule, and have the candle on the right 1/3, so the smoke could drift to the left

Hmmm..interesting, but a tad dark, grainy on the candle (noisy, high iso?).
