“Ladybugs all dressed in red, strolling through the flower bed. If I were tiny just like you, I’d creep among the flowers too!” – Maria Fleming

Funny story: my husband gave me flowers and I immediately knew I wanted to photograph a rose, they were perfect. I did, it was a bit cliche, pretty but nothing special. I really wanted a red ladybug, but it’s winter here. Later that morning (literally the same morning as I was thinking of wanting a ladybug) I look on the bathroom wall and there is a ladybug crawling about. Perhaps the dusting of snow coupled with the afternoon sun warmed her up to come inside? I don’t know but it was absolutely shocking to me the miracle that I had wished for a ladybug and she literally appeared!

Sorry to see your DQ :( I always get nervous with image validation, even when I haven't done much in the way of editing. I do import into LR, so I may need to watch out when doing JPG.

I'm pretty lazy, but at the same time my flow is pretty quick. I download the RAW file to my iPhone and then upload to LR to do basic editing on my phone almost in real time. From there at some point I will sign into my PC, export the original to my photo folder + export the edit as a JPG. Lastly I export to PS for any intensive edits / resize and sharpening. I very rarely take out my CF or SD cards to plug them manually into my PC. Final final steps are I backup my images to an external drive before clearing them off my camera's cards.

oh Erin .. just noticed the dq ..
i dont use lightroom or import into photoshop .. so would never have known that that would be a problem in a minimal edit challenge ..
i've read what you wrote in the dq thread .. and you are right . .
they should make it very obvious what you can do in a minimal edit ..

i'm really sorry this happened to you and knocked this stunning image off the front page ..
you should print it and hang it on your wall .. its just so beautiful .. that way the dq mightnt feel quite so yucky .. xx

oh WOW ..!!!!..
absolutely loving the story of the lady bug ..
gives me the goosebumps ..
I see things that happen like that as little miracles ..
they happen often in our every day life .. but we can miss them if they're not as 'blatent' as your lady bug ..

this quote is on my profile page ..
"There are only two ways to live your life.
One is as though nothing is a miracle.
The other is as though everything is a miracle.
- Albert Einstein"

many congratulations on such a perfectly wonderful image and your ribbon .. xx

This feels like the end of a journey, the ladybird emerging from a tunnel, or a wormhole in space. Sumptuous setting, with the ladybug having that hint of orange that invites the eye to linger. It's neat how the very shallow depth of field grazes the petal edges, left and right.
