Finally a chance to use my 50mm at f1.8 :) A simple shot, but an important one. For an upcoming project I need to produce some shots of a very special whisky glass. This was a great learning shoot about the benefits of continuous lighting in this case and also things to watch out for when shooting drinks.
Fingerprints, dust, condensation and rapidly melting ice to name a few :)
Happy birthday DPC!
Post-challenge - Thank you so much for my first blue! I was excited by this one when I saw it in camera and knew we had something special, but it was for the context of what we could do with it for the campaign for our upcoming whisky deck more than anything.
I've since made some changes to the setup we'll use but the general idea will remain and I'll be sure to share them when we do the full shoot.
Thank you for the support and I'm glad you enjoyed the image! For anyone curious about the lighting it's simply some Christmas lights placed as far back as possible from the subject and a very narrow depth of field on the glass itself which is lit with two continuous lights directly and only from the sides which highlights the shape of the glass. So your key light in this instance is actually two, and doesn't light the front of the subject. I got this tip from a tutorial of course.

Congratulations Anthony on your first, and well deserved blue. Very professionally done shot. Looks so appealing... also perhaps because I love me a good dram )
