 Well this was a big success I think! After unsuccessfully scouring the house for bears, I realised if I was going to make the idea work I would just need to move fast and get it done, not waste time overthinking it and use what I had available.

I have a lot of great snaps of Mozzerella. But after failing repeatedly at getting a good one of him barking, I figured the only way this was going to work was to set up the shot in the corner of the room for a few days and wait patiently for a moment when he's agitated and energetic (about twice a day if we're lucky, he's pushing 14 years old now) and try and get him on the stool and snap it.

So I set everything up, set the frame got everything perfect with the flash and we had a few minutes before dinner so I asked my partner to help me steady him on the chair and keep him entertained while I get a few test shots.

Thinking I would get a few test shots off to make sure the framing and lighting were right and then we would call it a night, it turns out that the treat I was offering Mozzy to stay still was a MUCH simpler (and maybe more effective) way to get that 'singing' look than waiting for him to bark, and we nailed the shot in just a few takes.

What a lesson learnt. Prepare well for the shot you want and have in your head, get everything ready to go and then just bring the subject in and press the shutter. All my studio style shoots will be like this for now I hope!

really like your take on this challenge .
the fact that there's a dog being awesome really brings this home for me ..
i love your dog's name btw .. Mozzerella .. sorta goes with the photo ..
ie. say cheese .. lol .. ;)
