Several hawks visit my backyard. I have some bird feeders that attract several species of birds and squirrels which probably also attract the hawks. I never leave my cats alone when they are outside because of that!

You are absolutely right Debbi! I lay on the ground aimed at this hawk for 20 minutes waiting for a chance at a shot like this. They take off without warning and usually not in the right direction to get a decent shot! Thanks for the comment.

Coming back to comment after already voting. Love the wing span, however I always get an uncomfortable feeling when there's not much room up top of the frame. Great details in the feathers. Wish the DOF was shallower overall though, maybe blurring out the background would have helped.
