I was shooting for MagnumPhoto in East Berlin in 1974 when I captured this image of an attempted escape to the West through Checkpoint Charlie...

OR...

A broken down old Merc parked in a driveway which I see from my bus on the way to work....

you decide!

Early morning capture.

Basic cropping/USM/curves then three layers created:-
1) High contrast windscreen (windshield)
2) Optik verve 'radiant' filter on body of car
3) burned/dodged background followed by motion blur.

Three layers blended.
Flipped horizontally

there are several pictures in your portfolio which i've really enjoyed Ben, but this is brilliant.

Shooting for Magnum in EastBerlin around 1974... we must have just missed each other - although I was lot younger then.

Very nice shot. I didn't vote on all images and this was one i missed.
I find it interesting that many on this site are anti-PS 9or editing/effects/etc) and yet vote such an image very highly.
You did get some comments that seem unable to tell, and one that was on the money.
Well done!

Is this about editing or photography? I can't decide, for myself. The base photo is OK, but it's difficult to say that the impact of the shot is not primarily down to that motion blurring - and why doesn't it affect the radiator grill, and the badge, and the headlamps ... sorry, I don't like it.

very interesting feel. looks like someone had a big accident (i'm guessing that bullets don't quite shatter to that degree) and is speeding off to get away. what's interesting is that the rest of the car looks untouched (perhaps a missing symbol/emblem in the circle on the hood, but it may just be really faint).

Beautifully done and awesome lighting. It should finish very high.

Ouch! Such a beautiful automobile, too. I love the exposure and the motion blur. Delicious irony (motion vs. busted windshield). The soft focus effect is quite pleasing.

You got my vote for ribbon. Clearly a excellent photographer, both composition makes this very interesting, the colors/reflections/light setup. It's all good. 10 (so far 2)
