I wouldn't say sadness so much as farawayness. When you get to a certain age, mourning is shrouded in a kind of mist... This, like so many of your portraits, is refreshingly true.

there's definitely a sadness to this, her expression looks to be of grief. I like the dark/light background think it adds a question and unknown to the image.
