my brother had a hot water heater that was going on for 40 years old in his ceiling cavity .. him and his son got it out as it was no longer being used ..
he came up to my place on his tractor with the trailer attached .. in the trailer was the remnants of the hot water heater ..
i thought PERFECT for this challenge ..
i took a few photos .. and really liked this one .. loving the lensbaby effect .. which gives it a sort of weird off-balance look .. perfect for what's going on .. the breaking down of the metal into rust .. the transmutation ..

its not going well in the challenge ..
but that's ok .. i didnt have high hopes .. but i really like it .. the colours shapes and light appealed to me ..

i did consider entering this rusty old tractor which i photographed with the grunge challenge in mind ..
but to me the one i entered walked all over the tractor ..

It's "ok" but a little light on subject matter IMO. This image by itself would make an interesting texture overlay. :-)
