 To make a virtual card that says, Happy New Year, without any words. I wanted to capture the serendipity of the previous year's tumultuous past mixed with the outlook of a new year coming into focus. As I was traveling up a canyon this scene all of a sudden appeared, I stopped right there and jumped out to get the picture. Post production, I separated the background and the foreground and applied a black and white to represent the past, and kept the foreground with color to represent the new year's promising future.

A white winter? Am not much in favor of partial de-saturation but I like the little trees

The bottom being in color but not having much color in it is cool, gives a great sense of magnitude. It looks like the top is 100% BW, and the bottom is full color... I might try desaturating the bottom just a touch... this is in danger of feeling like one image layered over another. . .

That moon looks amazing! Great job exposing the front of the mountain and the sky so they both came out!

Beautiful! I love it.

I would be curious if it would look better with less of a blue cast on the backside of the mountain and if the brush in the foreground on the right wasn't there. A very nice scene.
