Vibrant fillings, bold finishes — Erin Jeanne McDowell, the author of the cookbook “The Fearless Baker,” has created brilliant new pies to make for Thanksgiving.

Thinly sliced red, pink, green and yellow apples are arranged to create an ombré effect.

Tip: Finish the pie with cinnamon sugar and butter, which pools and softens the fruit at the bottom of the crust.

Super pretty.
At first glance I thought it was sweet potato and onion - another delicious and fetching combination.

first impression .. it looks like a weird hat from above .. lol ..
then of course reason or 'reality' prevails and it becomes a pie ..
and a very yummy pie at that ..
wish i could have a piece right now ... for lunch ... :)

I really like where this is heading. On one hand the shallow depth of field really makes the filling pop up, but it doesn't do the flaky/dryness of the crust justice...

Almost looks like the top of someone's head. Interesting patterns - the pie and the wire mesh background.
