I too was surprised to see it was F8 but guess at the distance I took the shot from, that is how the physic works :)

Thank you for your comment. I am confused how you guessed my editing process on this photo. I did not apply any blur at all to this image. I actually did very little processing and it was essentially a crop, and desaturation and a touch of selective sharpening of the stag.

Well DANG there slim jim lens man! That's a super slim slice for F8! Ok, I stand corrected and I'm eating crow. Pretty cool, and thanks for sharing.

I don't like the small depth of field in black and white. it makes more sense in color, where the colors might distract from the subject. but now it's too much blur with just one thing in focus.
