It's good to come in late and read all the comments. Now I don't have to ask stupid questions like "what are those things?" Now I know they're slate figures made from slate from the mines. And they're very unique. In fact, the whole scene is quite interesting.

Oh, sorry. Let me go back and cross that out... :P

Seriously though, I am very curious about those figures - what are they made from? I assume they are not actually part of the original site?

An outstanding image. A touching family here (slate?)the parents looking at the kid trying his wings so to speak.
The colors are divine - I think that the whole Lake District is amazing. Will you post more?

i have recently got into Game of Thrones .. or GoT .. for the disciples .. and this scene has that feel about it .. desolate ..
altho there are places that are lush too ..
in your post you are grateful for family .. and this image brings that to mind so powerfully ..
there are so many stories that those statues could represent .. i've thought of a few .. but would have difficulty verbalizing them ..
thanks for sharing .. and hope you had a lovely trip .. :)

Thank you Roz, yes sadly this site is not what it was. I am not really interested in comments so the lack of them is totally fine with me. I am more concerned with the fact that I am outside taking photos and trying to get myself together a bit mentally.

This was taken at Honister Pass in Cumbria UK. I also watch GOT, I find it an excellent TV show but some of the things do not work for me.
