My son had a house fire on Sunday morning. He and his family live on a country property and needs electricity to work the water pump. It was an electrical fire so that was a problem. Luckily the fire brigade was very quick and put out the fire with only one room and a bit of ceiling damaged.
I am grateful that the family got out safely, that the fire wasn't at night or when everyone was away from the house, that it is not as bad as it might have been (especially given that is an old weatherboard house) and that we can put a roof over their heads until the place is habitable again.

Such a stark scene, I'm glad it was localized and will be made whole again. It's an interesting type, "could have been worse," which demonstrates the vast breadth of gratitude. Maybe it's beside the point, but I'd like to note how much I like the bright light coming through the window.

WOW .. what a relief that no one was hurt and the damage wasnt to great ..
i live rural and have a water pump that runs on electricity .. when we lose power which isnt that rare .. we have nothing .. no water .. no anything ..
hopefully the room that had all the damage didnt have expensive computers and such in it ..

One of the best qualities of gratitude it its ability to emerge from tragedy and sorrow. Glad this was such a case.

That's a bugger. When we lived in Australia we also had a water pump so I know what you are talking about. I hope the house was insured and will be restored quickly.

Accidentally, about an hour ago I looked out of the window and saw big smoke, there was a house fire below us. It was distinguished quickly, I hope nobody was injured.
