This stump looks like a heart in its entirety, but I could only hold the camera and 80mm lens high enough to get this incomplete shot.
Don't know why this tree was cut down, looks pretty healthy to me.

one could almost spot some perspective compression going on here...

A tree born crooked will never grow straight. Can't help wonder how this happened and why somebody cut it down.

Interesting textures and shadows. A macro shot of the cut wood would make a good overlay for the right picture.

It had a severe wound when it was young, it grew up and didn’t look good or at least somone thought so.
I fell trees, this happens a lot .

The top of the heart shape indicates an area that may have been susceptible to dry rot or some kind of predatory invasion. Looks kind of pulpy inside which is probably why it was cut down. My guess is either beetles or carpenter ants got to it.

Great shapes and textures. Even without the bottom portion it still suggests a heart. I miss our old woodpile for all the intriguing textures. (We now have gas for heating.)
