However much I liked the rust color in the color version, the b & w won out because it seemed to more clearly reveal the architecture, planes, angles and lines.
By the way, this is a segment of a horizontal girder affixed to a wall. It's been rotated.

The straight horizontal line just above center grounds everything else in the image... and yields its own authority.

Monochrome simplifies by places the focus on texture and shape. A good choice for the little square.
