by keeping the house completely below the sky except for the chimney, you make a house out of the entire landscape. the effect is unbearably cozy.

Compact and strong. The bright clouds and stone walls draw the eye, but then we explore the dark, detailed areas at leisure. The hill and rooftop appear to coalesce, which is a pleasant illusion. The foreground tree works very well. My favorite part of the image is the shining road that curves out of sight.

Everything works here. I could stare at this for a long time. The composition, toning, light, sense of place... I can feel the air and smell the earth.

I'm enjoying this tour of the French countryside. It appears the stone for this home was mined in its own backyard. Another lovely catch!

Like something out of the 17th century, so much character in this place and you captured it perfectly.

The stone wood architecture against the rocky bluff are accented well with the black and white. The road invites you to journey further into the photo.

Such an interesting building, and exquisite b/w conversion.

Oh this break my heart! I remeber traveling in the Dordogne, Sarlat, Brive...the foie gras...these old houses some in ruins, some purchased by the Brits

your job and your phone take you to the most interesting and wonderful places ..
this is absolutely charming ... i love the feeling i'm getting of having stepped back in time .. partly because of the black and white edit and the scene ...
thats one of the great things about our side challenges .. you get to 'travel' .. even tho its just thru other people's eyes ... :)
