my theme .. taking photos and doing stuff to them .. more or less .. and maybe experimenting a bit ..

for the March side challenge

i was blown away today .. by my phone ..
i did have the galaxy S8+ and the camera was ok .. but anything zoomed in was absolutely horrible .. i recently updated to the S9+ ..

i went for a walk with katee and saw this robberfly on the barbed wire fence ..

i had my galaxy S9+ with me .. and thought .. what the heck .. i'll take a couple of shots .. not expecting anything even remotely ok ...
talk about an improvement from one phone to the next .. in the camera that is ...

its not as good a result that i'd get with the dslr or mirrorless with a macro lens .. but its pretty impressive for a phone camera ..

i'm putting in here .. for anyone interested .. the original jpeg that has had the tiniest bit of sharpening to it .. :)

An incredible close-up. That you can see the eye to be compound is awesome. Everything about the image is awesome, and brings a renewed appreciation of insects. The colors are so straightforward. The barbed wire, too, is a revelatory sculpture.

[As an aside, I'd like to mention to you and whoever is fascinated by and concerned for the well-being of insects the Xerces Society. It advocates for the preservation of invertebrates, especially insects, which are too often overlooked and certainly undervalued. When you become a member they send you a quarterly (I believe) magazine that's modest but quite interesting.]

Yeah. It's a great camera. But can you make, calls, text, check the weather, give you directions? Oh, wait... Dang!

Sharp and clear macro. The last thing you want to hear but your phone's camera is very good. With this quality not many need a dedicated camera.

Amazing detail. I love bug macros but mine never turn out anywhere near this good.

It is a pretty amazing phone but without an eye like yours it wouldn't matter.

Totally amazing! I canât believe that a phone can capture that much detail, especially when zoomed. And with that lovely shallow DOF. Iâve been thinking about upgrading my 6s iPhone. I see I should just do it.

That's amazing for a camera phone!!! Wow!! I've gotta get me one of those camera phone thingies.. still using an old DSLR camera and a flip-top phone (don't tell anyone).

That said, this is an A++ image Roz!

Bang! You know them by name and probably where they âworkâ and if they have families and where they nap. I am amazed by the seemingly easiness that you have to spot them and then make them âposeâ for you with Kate aroun
I look at them with such different eyes - always see them becoming some kind of design, or at least a piece of jewlery or to absorb their shape and turn them in some attractive abstraction just by retracing their shapes and exaggerating their geometry
