I love the lines and tones and mystery of this image.

I like the rake. It's an icon of work that stands amid the appreciation of beauty for its own sake. But without the work there is no beauty.

I love photos of old fashioned buildings like this. They're so rare around here.

As I've come to expect from you, John, a well thought out composition and presentation creating a sense of place and context that tells a story. Bravo!

Great shot with the tree framing the old stone house. That rake is pretty weird in the corner. I really like it. The sepia tone goes well with the mood and subject matter.

That rake is so modern, I'm assuming your photograph was taken after 1971? I wonder about the tattered rope on the moss covered tree. Did kids once play here on a homemade swing? This leads to more questions. I love when photographs do this.

And this is your line of work? Not quite the boundless landscape of cubicles, hunched figures scribbling in yellowed ledgers, an overseer in a tall chair peering out over it all, relishing who to fire next and cast their family into ruin that I had imagined. I'm abundantly happy for you and your marvelous days. I hope. And thus a beautiful scene that hearkens back to simple times, though here it is now. Well-constructed and balanced depth, an adroit procession from rake and tree and past the house into the woods. The sepia tone is lovely. So much to cherish.

Very rustic, the PP works well for this, unless that's how the place actually looked.. which is probably closer to the truth.

half past now ...
half past before ..
what's gone down ..
something dire .. or .. more ..

so ominous ..
so dead ..
this messes with my head ..

that rake ..
strategically placed ..
gives a slightly different feel ..
to this cold place ..

A hell of a job if you have to turn this stone house into something habitable. Love the angle of the image
