My theme is red for the March side challenge.

I usually shoot for b&w so we'll see how this goes. I have a small collection of red images to get me started but my intention is to get out and shoot.

Break in...mysterious, dramatic. Love this first red image.

The shadows of the people stand out to me. I find it interesting the shadows frame out a cross image made with the expansion joints in the sidewalk. Deeper meaning of red.

I agree that this would be a perfect book cover. This is awesome!!
(We should have a challenge for shadows that tell a story.... or something like that.)

Here's to you, "Dude."

This is a dramatic and effective start to your stated theme. I like everything about it!

I also thought of a book cover right away. the composition is dynamic and engaging. the word is an important part of the composition. It would be an interesting idea to come up with photos that are off balance and then complete the composition with text.

Definitely a cover for a spy novel. Minimalism to the nth degree.

Oh, wow, great start. I like how the author's figure, with the bag, hat and the Ricoh, is making an impression.

Terrific. Simple and mysterious, fine composition and your use of the red is stunning.

Love the contrast, and the red wall is super strong. The border really becomes part of the image as it highlights the black and red theme.

Can't help but wonder what's above the red part. Good example of photo commentary. The opposing RED at the bottom and red at the top draws the whole thing together.

Le rouge et le noir - formidable book cover but not for Stendhal.
I really like your departure from B&W. And it is a selfie of the best kind. Looking forward for more red.

This is pretty great dude, I always find it hard to talk about a great image because everything is in the right place, keep em coming.

lol .. i'm laughing because altho your theme is red it has your black and white stamp all over it .. !! ..
and also i'm thinking this could be a self portrait .. !! ..
i'm really liking the border .. but then i am partial to them .. :)
ps .. i put the original in with my molly the cat pic .. :)

I can't help seeing your second shadow as climbing the 'wall' of your border. Even the pavement partition contributes as a climber's rope. Sorry, it's just me. It doesn't detract from the impact or the appeal. I like the arty red wall in the background.
