apropos for Jan 1! I agree with Mariuca, that the overall sharpness is somewhat lacking for the choice of composition and technique. even at f/11, DOF is quite shallow with that lens...

I've never had black eyed peas. Best wishes for a great new year!

Happy New Year! My Mom still prepares these every New Year's Day for good luck. Nice full frame macro.

What jagar said is true!
To me it's lacking a little the sharpness for a macro

Love those black eyed peas. Had some today at two sittings. You captured them well with this macro.

Awesome image for the New Year's celebration. We had them today as well, with green chiles and rice - our version of "Hoppin' John" which is a tradition in our family. Great capture!!

Lovely macro. We had 'em with collards and a ham hock today. Yum!

I see many little faces here - the two that are most distinct for me are in the center. One is a very fat face, so fat that the plump cheeks threaten to obliterate the eyes, already nothing but slits. The other, to the left of it as we are looking at the image and a bit higher in the frame, is as long and lean as the other is squat; not sure what he's looking at, but now I know what "looking askance" at something means. I am reminded of Jack Spratt and his wife.

I like the way they are all at different angles showing different facets of themselves. (And now I want homemade soup.)

I LOVE black eyed peas. I am the only one in my family who eats them. Every once in a while I will fix myself some with dinner and everyone else eats corn or green beans.
