The balls are crystal clear. I'd call this shallow dof rather than soft focus.

To me, this is shallow depth of field instead of soft focus since... on my monitor, the front row of balls is in sharp focus.

I like the photo... but I don't think it fits the challenge. (BTW, I didn't vote on this.)
