Reasons that this will be voted down: I think that people will vote this down because of the fact that it is high key, and generally voters do not vote these shots particularly high. The high key effect was executed by overexposing inside the camera. Secondly, I think that this will not sit well with voters who do not like the more artistic shots (although this ties in with the high key point stated above). Lastly, I think some will knock me down for the composition. Although it is not in the rule of thirds, i places this centrally (both vertically and horizontally) because I wanted to get across the feeling of tranquility and serenity that I feel is the mood of this piece. There is not much that I would change about this shot. Lastly, I believe that some will think that I used the "flood" filter on my shot even though that it is illegal. This is the way the reflection was in the actual image!
Estimated score: 5.8xxx; for me this is high expectations and I think that I need to toot my own horn and say that this should score high.

more like "Drifting". ;-) Capture some jet skis buzzing around it and it would scream low tech!

An impressive high-key 'color' image. Very artistisic presentation, well balanced and framed/cropped. Te contrasts seem a bit harsh, but could be expected. I do not find it hard to relate this to low tech comparing to other modes of boating (motorized, cruise ships) although the technology inference does require some interpretation.

Nice symmetry; I like the idea to do this high key, but the predominance of non-white tones in the background area lessen the impact that a brighter background would have had.

This is a great image, and I feel you have got the tonal, and colour balance just right for me.
For a stronger composition I would have cropped the image off centre, with more space to the left.

Sailing in principle is low tech but once the manufacture of the item in fiberglass and all the high tech additions along with steel for shrouds and depth finders, it moves it more to the modern. However, sailing does meet the challenge. A very nice image 7

yes! me likey!! i love this simple, bold composition. great job! my only nitpick is that maybe the water/sky would look better if it was a different color? but that's just me. again, great job. I love this shot. 9.

the water would look much better blue, seems like it has a pinkish tint

If only the water had some color... //davegage.com/mmc/digi-darkroom.html has a PS action (and ones for other editors) that work wonders - check my recent portfolio additions for the best i coud do vs Shudder's Sharpening (and color punch up, haze removal)
